Yeah... sure would be a challenge...

Quite a few neat names out in Newfoundland... places like Fogo... all long O's... like Pho-Gho....

It's in a well-known song actually...

I's the bye that builds the boat...
I's the bye that sails 'er
I's the bye that catches the fish
and takes 'em home to Lizer...

Chorus:
Tip yer partner sally-tee-bo
tip yer partner sally brown
Fogo, Twillingate, Morton's Harbour
All around the circle

I took Lizer to a dance
And faith but she could travel
Every step that she did take
was up to 'er knees in gravel...

I don't want yer maggoty fish
They're no good in winter
I can buy as good as that
Down in Bona Vista....

Now there you go... a little bit of Canadianism for ya...
We used to sing that a lot when I was a kid...
Hope I got the words right, but I figure you could make them up as you went anyhow...
There's another one called "The Squid Jiggin Grounds"
that's pretty good too...
Should be wearing your Cape Ann when you sing that one though I guess...
Pretty colourful song..
Remind me to sing it for you sometime... (0:
My dad used to sing it quite a bit when we were kids...
Not that he's from Newfoundland,
but he used to work out east quite a lot in the 1950s
and learned a lot of the folk songs from out there....
