Hi all.

By now you probably have heard about the planned acquisition (merger) of GNET by INSP. According to press releases, INSP appears to provide the infrastructure for wireless internet for more than 85% of U. S.wireless carriers and claims to be the leading global wireless internet crossplatform provider. GNET, as you know, is a Paul Allen Wired World company. He owns 30% of GNET. He also is a major shareholder, if not the largest holder of MCOM stock. While PA may have some plans to incorporate MCOM into this new venture or another of his ventures, there has been no manifestation of that intent as yet. Some of you may have some thoughts on that subject and I would appreciate your insight. I am challenged by technology, and I would appreciate, even more, knowledgeable commentary concerning the possible effect of the combination of INSP and GNET and their technology (particularly INSP's) on MCOM.

Continued shorting of MCOM has helped to push it down. We could go up pretty fast once the market reverses.

A+P is at it, talk of shorting MCOM on his thread: Message 14101261 and thereabouts. This was a few days ago. Saw an initial post here from Monday: Message 14099100

Shorts were spooked, afraid it would run. Today turned into their kind of day, with Nokia news killing all telecoms, a headfake rally later, and programs kicking in at the close.

Interestingly, this poster said two days ago that 'Fidelity is looking to run it up.' Well, can't say that's verifiable.

Hadn't seen or searched for it, but a yahoo poster noted it: messages.yahoo.com

Traded around my position a little yesterday, not smart enough to unload in the higher 40s, doubled down in the 30s, picked up some more at low 30s near the close today.

Let's see how it goes. They short more, I'll swap more into MCOM from other equities. It'll be like a coiled spring. wouldn't at all be surprised to see a near-term pop to mid40s.

DELL and MCOM ?

"Once you've used it, you don't want anything else. With broadband
wireless, a notebook is truly portable."

- Michael Dell from

news.cnet.com

Also from the same article:

<< ... So serious is Dell about wireless that on Monday he created a new
wireless group that reports directly to him. Moe Grzelakowski, a
former Motorola executive, is heading it. ...

... But with the wireless speeds topping out at 14.4 kbps in most
areas, performance is inadequate for most portable users. Dell
believes broadband wireless access may be the answer for portable
users, as well as for consumers and small businesses craving
high-speed Internet access.

Broadband wireless providers such as
Metricom are ramping up speeds to 128 kbps. In July, Metricom will
launch 128-kbps wireless services in Atlanta and San Diego in advance
of a 21-market launch later this summer.

While Dell wouldn't disclose
his company's partners in the wireless venture, he said the PC maker
is testing broadband wireless at its headquarters in Round Rock,
Texas. ...

The new DELL notebooks are slated for rollout in September. >>
