Heads up - Scott Cohen of CNBC is about to do a piece on Rambus per Tom Costello.

Here's what I got out of it:

After discussing LSI's $20M rev shortfall as a big reason why the selloff today and that that might tend to vindicate Jonatghan Joseph's "semi slowdown call", he said that the news out of Rambus is more complex. It involves Intel. Then he erred and said Rambus, who design chipsets, stock is reacting to the news that Intel will be making chipsets for it's next Pentium that don't use Rambus technology in addition to the making chipsets that do.

Then he said he talked to a VP at Rambus (Avo?) who said that the market is overreacting today. He said that what is happening is that Intel is developing a contingency in case the Rambus solution is still too expensive but in the end the consumer will buy the Rambus technology.

Disclaimer: Very Long and holding.
