Amy,
Just so there is no misunderstanding as to my agenda, I am a long time and substantial investor in both INTEL and CISCO. I have financial interests in other companies, but not in any company that competes in the Internet Appliance or set top box market segments. As for INTEL, I feel the company's microprocessor strategy in the PC and Server market segments is well known and has been well executed so far. INTEL's new products about to be introduced into these market segments should continue to keep the company in a leadership position, in my view. My concern is "the low end", the Internet Appliance and set top box market segments. The opportunity here is potentially huge. Furthermore, if another chip manufacturer should "capture" either of these segments, the potential exists to move up the value chain and do substantial damage to INTEL down the road. As for CISCO, they are active and seem to be enjoying some success in the set top box segment. Their chip supplier may be worth looking at as a potential investment for me (and INTEL?).
