Update from FredHager.com

I'm not going to copy the full text here (fredhager.com subscription is $300/yr.), but here is a summary of a message from fredhager.com staff, posted this afternoon:

Recent news re Pentium 4 doesn't change outlook on Rambus (price target: $500 by 2003). Some possible reasons for Intel's actions are that (1) It is in Intel's best interest to prevent Via from gaining foothold in low-end Pentium 4's; (2) given current RDRAM prices, there is no other way to push Pentium 4 into low-end computers right away, and offering cheap SDRAM solution will allow Intel to compete with AMD; and (3) forcing memory makers to use only Rambus in all Pentium 4 models might raise antitrust concerns (for Intel).
