After Hours Action: InfoSpace to Buy Go2Net


Earnings once again dominated the after hours session. But, there was one merger announced after the bell.

InfoSpace (NASDAQ: INSP - Quotes, News, Boards), the provider of information services for Web sites and wireless devices plans to buy Go2Net (NASDAQ: GNET - Quotes, News, Boards) for $2.67 billion in stock. InfoSpace will issue 1.82 shares for each share of Go2net.

In addition, InfoSpace reported a pro forma net loss of $3.3 million, or a penny per share, compared to a pro forma net loss of $0.02 per share for the year-ago quarter. The consensus estimate was a $0.06 per share loss. Revenue for the quarter was $24.6 million, a 252% increase over the $6.98 million reported for the same period last year.

In the after hours session, InfoSpace is down more than $7 to $40.63 while Go2Net is up $7.50 to $68.06.
