'tis sad state of affairs for the future of NASCAR on the tube.

The guy at the top of the list races at the local tracks around here. We watched him last night get upset last night on the last lap. Tonight he's out for revenge, I'm sure.

NASCAR announces rules modification

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Aug. 1, 2000)
NASCAR officials announced Tuesday through a technical bulletin to the NASCAR Winston Cup Series teams that their primary and secondary throttle shafts must each have an independent travel stop to impede the throttle plates from opening beyond vertical.
NASCAR officials also announced the addition of an auxiliary ignition on/off button. This button, that will disconnect power to the ignition system, must be mounted on the steering wheel within reach of the driver's thumb. This auxiliary switch must shut off the engine immediately when depressed.

These modifications will go into effect beginning with Saturday's Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
