My impression is that the spinco's IP was just enough to do some cross licensing for GSM & WCDMA and
might even be in the WCDMA patent pool QCOM refuses to join. QCOM will still hold the most essential IP.
I understand spinco will be a QCOM licensee and pay QCOM the standard rate like any other ASIC
manufacturer much like ERICY with infrastructure, and Kyocera with handsets.

Now, Spinco will negotiate separately from QUALCOMM in cross licensing with ERICY, NOK et al.
QCOM can now hold back for its standard reasonable rate with no effect on the ASIC biz. WCDMA camp
now has two separate entities to deal with. Seems the net effect on IPR and royalties might be better
(combining spinco&QCOM agreements) IMO
