Sonny ---Durables goods up too strong ---employment cost on a yearly basis up 4.4% ---too strong for the FED ---need to raise rates per CNBC . Now we have the anal-ysts yelling the economy is slowing down ---corporate earnings will slow . Who the heck is right ---the people who are trying to screw the individual investor ---simple as that ---jerk them around and take their money . Saw where the Saudis are thinking of backing off their 500,000 barrel day increase . Too much oil on the market yet inventories are down 11% from last year .
Well that give us an idea of how screwed up the market is --will wait it out . Not ready to give the hard earned money a way even though I am tired of the distortions . I personally do not see the need for another interest rate hike . I did not buy an jumbo jet last qtr and have no intentions in the near future . As far as technology earnings the only thing that is increasing earnings for the Fortune 500 is investment in technology to increase production which in turns help control inflation .
Have not made my mind up on the election but wish Bush would have taken Colin Powell , Christine Whitman or Ridge from PA . It would have a better choice .
Sonny as far as QCOM is concern ---between now and the first of October you need to look at it closely for the following reasons .
1)Nok third qtr warning today was in part due to Sprint and Verizon having stop selling NOK phones as of July 1st --they went all digital and "Q" ASIC chips have been the only one qualified to be sold by either . This will hurt their sales going forward unless they strike a deal with "Q" .
2)The subsidy ban in Korea will end by October ---The Korean telephone companies will be the first to deploy 1X ---( data download at 144 k per second ) ---subsidy bans in the past have only lasted three months ---this started in June .
3)Spinco ---the chipset spin-off will make a major deal with a GSM IPR partner to incorporate GSM into the new W-CDMA chipset which will be on silicon by FEB 2001
Hope I have not talk to much --but watch and pick your entry over the next two months ---I think you will be happy by spring

BEST WISHES
BILL
