That is odd. I wonder if the overall "short" position in PALM now includes PALMV, or if it's just the short position on the 26 million public float of PALM? Around 35 million PALMV shares have "traded" thus far, so I guess it's possible. It's also possible that, with the distribution imminent, it's been easier to "borrow" the PALM shares to short.

For a few days there, we had a $2 to $4 spread between PALM and PALMV. As a few of us noted at the time, if you were a PALM holder, you'd be crazy not to have tried to take advantage of the spread by selling your PALM position and buying PALMV. But with D-Day approaching, there may well have been people able to set up the arb position by shorting PALM and buying PALMV. I tried, but it was a no-go.

I've never seen so many weird things going on before with a single stock.
