i still don't think you got sunspot's point, entirely. yes i noticed the part about 'wanting to live by the law of the land,' and although i don't agree with it, it's simply the way most people are, particularly europeans and chinese. my interpretation of it was that he was trying to be a civil person... whatever the majority decides, for better or worse he'll go along with it. one of his points was that the golden rule won't work in the case of masochists. as for the 10 commandments, i agree that those are basic rules everyone could live by. these modern-day wealth redistributionists think they can be jewish or christian when in fact they're breaking the 10th commandment. how about this though... if your daddy or mommy beats you for no reason do you have to honor them? everything else aside, sunspot is a very good contributor to this thread when it comes to things technical and i would hate to have those discussions mired down in questions of individual character or morality. let's leave those for the ask god thread. andy
