Patriot Scientific Begins Shipping PSC1000A Processors
Latest Version of PSC1000A Chip Sent to Key Customers Worldwide
SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 28, 2000--Patriot Scientific Corp. (OTCBB:PTSC - news), the developer of the first market-ready microprocessor for Java(TM), today announced that it has begun shipping the newest version of its most powerful chip to key customers worldwide.

The .35-micron version of the PSC1000 -- the PSC1000A -- recently completed production at the company's partner foundry in Taiwan. An initial delivery of 1,200 chips was received on time.

``Over the past month, prototype evaluation of the chip in our lab has been outstanding,'' said Jim Lunney, Patriot's president and chief executive officer. ``Inclusion of this latest version into our evaluation kits is underway.

``Moreover,'' Lunney noted, ``Development continues on a compact version of the evaluation kit. It will include a modular approach that will allow for more rapid prototyping for prospective customers.''

Approximately six customers have received up to a half dozen chips each for placement and testing on boards of their own design. ``These are customers who have already been evaluating earlier versions of the PSC1000, like its performance, and have been eagerly awaiting availability of our newest version so they can test it before placing orders,'' the CEO explained.

``In fact,'' said Lunney, ``There is a backlog of orders from existing and potential customers for premium evaluation kits -- those that feature browser capability and enhanced graphics.''

``Overall, we now have more than 180 standard and premium PSC1000 kits at various stages of evaluation both at home and abroad, and the number grows daily,'' Lunney concluded.

Founded in 1987, Patriot Scientific Corp. designs, markets and manufactures: the PSC1000, based on the patented ShBoom technology, a 32-bit microprocessor targeted at Java and Internet appliances as well as the traditional embedded systems markets; high-performance ISDN Basic Rate and Primary Rate products for digital communications and ground penetrating radar.
