what must first be taken into consideration is your view of where Rambus will be in Jan 2002 and or Jan 2003. Forget the options for a sec, what I am refering to is where the share price will be? Spreading out your entries, nothing to complicated,in your purchasing of calls over an extended period of time(say three months) should help minimixe risk. Of course you don't want to get left at the station, but with this security in particular volitility is the name of the game. This stock is now becomming very attractive but I see the Leaps haven't as yet been so nearly devastated which tells me the market is convince the share price will climb significantly from these levels. You may want to examine some short term calls into the Fall of 2000. This stock may run as high as 200 before years end-I would not bet against it!!
