assuming that you and Greg are correct--and depressingly, I agree that it is more likely than not that you are--another approach to the situation would be to put yourself in those companies you really really want to hold for the future, exit all short-term plays like options, reduce or better still eliminate margin exposure, and then go off and do other stuff for a few months (or ideally years, if one can develop the appropriate tortoisean discipline).

Me, I'm too stupid to take my own advice. Or rather, I'm too stupid and stubborn to accept the facts and cut my losses on some *&^%$! calls I have outstanding (such as GMST). So I just hope you're not right, or that we have one really nice GMST bounce before the deluge.
