Although everything from the internet provider upto the output of the modem is running at the same speed, the computer is processing that data at a much faster rate. Hence the screens will be updates faster. You will probably notice this increased throughput more when you have all your MD and charts open.

The rule of diminishing return as in the Mythical Man Month seems to apply to most things.
