China is likely to become a threat to Russia. India is a threat to Pakistan, and could threaten Bangladesh and Nepal, except that there is nothing in Bangladesh or Nepal that anybody wants. I don't see how the US would be involved in any of these threats.

The difference between the US/China/India and the great powers of old Europe is simply one of geography. India may or may not become an ascendant power, but what can they do to threaten the US? What vital resource do they control? What vital sea lane?

What move could China make that could involve us in a full-scale war? They certainly aren't going to invade us, and I hope we'd never be dumb enough to try and invade them.
