i didn't think of it, i guess, because it is usually 'prescribed' for shutdown hang problems. so it will be interesting to see if apex tries it and it provides a workaround for the restart prob.

btw, i named my shutdown shortcut ADIOS. <g3>

if apex is checking this out, i might as well toss in a good ms kb article... How to Troubleshoot Windows 98 Second Edition Shutdown Problems support.microsoft.com

thanks, but it does not seem to work. i created the shortcut without the quotes and i get an error msg reading "error in user.exe missing entry"

any comments?
