(ChemTech), a subsidiary of Loch Harris, Inc. (OTCBB: LOCH) has released the first photographs of its VAMMP prototype. A photo of the VAMMP arrangement is accompanied by a picture of the fluorometer which acquires the basic chemical signature information required for mapping and measurement of constituents in a closed environment. The VAMMP photos are being made public in advance of its demonstration at the 45th annual meeting of The International Society for Optical Engineering (SPIE) in San Diego, Calif. As configured, VAMMP is designed to provide real-time data, noninvasively, in sealed semiconductor processing equipment. "We feel VAMMP should provide a unique and much needed service to the semiconductor fabs," said Dr. Henry Blair, chief scientist for ChemTech. "Current techniques, analyzing samples extracted from the chamber, are both invasive and time consuming. VAMMP's potential to acquire the same data quickly and without disturbing the process environment may greatly enhance yields," said Blair. "The semiconductor applications are only one of several iterations possible," added ChemTech and Loch Harris CEO, Rodney Boone. "Outside institutions and agencies have contacted ChemTech regarding environmental monitoring, drug detection, antiterrorism systems and food and drug process monitoring." VAMMP probe is shown on the left. This unit mounts on the process chamber. The electronic module is on the right. The module can be mounted remotely from the process chamber, thus eliminating equipment clutter at the production line. The keys are added as a scale reference. ChemTech's state of the art fluorometer provides signature data for the VAMMP system. The data is acquired by, and stored on the fluorometer computer and added to the VAMMP identification database. Both of ChemTech's current developments, the prototype configuration of VAMMP and the ELF, will be on exhibit at the SPIE event at the San Diego Convention Center. The exhibit hall is available to the general public Aug. 1 through Aug. 3 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The ChemTech developers and company representatives will be on hand to demonstrate the technology and answer questions during exhibition hours. SPIE is a nonprofit professional society dedicated to advancing research, engineering and applications in optics, photonics, imaging and electronics. For more information on the SPIE meeting visit their website at spie.org . ELF, an acronym for Eliminate Landmines Forever, is an x-ray based device designed to be operated by a two-person team to detect and identify landmines and unexploded ordnance at a forward looking range of two meters. VAMMP, which is an acronym for VAcuum Multi-constituent Monitor of Plasma, uses an ultra-violet-based light source to monitor plasma in the manufacture of semiconductors.
