Looking to get more in the $8 to $10 range. Here's reason why it dropped on 7/25 so much. Nothing but a scratch.

Shares of Dens-Pac tumbled 3 1/2, or 23 percent, to 11 15/16 Tuesday after Thomas Weisel Partners analyst Eric Gomberg dropped his rating on the memory products maker (DPAC: news, msgs) to "buy" from "strong buy."

The downgrade was based on the stock's recent run-up to a level that was within 17 percent of his price target, which he raised to $18 from $16. However with Tuesday's drop and the fact that the call was based only on valuation, one can only wonder whether Gomberg will now revisit his recommendation.

"In our opinion, near-term share outperformance is unlikely given the recent run in stock price," Gomberg had told clients in his morning note. "While we believe the stock is an excellent long-term investment, in the short-term, at current levels, we believe shares are fully valued.

Gomberg noted that he believes his current estimates for fiscal 2001 are conservative and could be driven higher by several near-term catalysts including new customer or program wins, or acquisitions.
