It should come as no surprise that reduction of the "Money for Nothing Marketing" methods
that Amazon has employed in the past (paying customers to buy their products) reduces
sales.

I agree but it is contrary to the comments Bezos has made for years. He and the analysts were stating that with scale less marketing would be needed.
