Pshwawwww.... Hot outside today!!

Was just taking some photos out in the gardens...

Anyhow, back to the McMansions...
Well, you're certainly right about them...
I've been in a couple and you could just about shoot a cannon through them without hitting man, beast or stick of furniture...
and that "echo factor"... most definitely...

Yooo-Hoooooooo.... anybody on the second floor??!!!!
Anybody anywhere??!!

Which brings me to my own observation concerning these big hulks...

There doesn't seem to be anyone living in most of them...
And I do mean that quite seriously...

Well, I know... They *do* have beautifully manicured lawns...
and expensive "thematic" landscaping...
and massive pools with pergolas and pavilions around them...
at least up here they do...
Most of them around our neck of the woods are situated on 2 acres estate lots...
some have iron fences around them
and some... (ha ha ha!!) even have closed-circuit cameras mounted on the gateposts at the entrances...

But heck... do you ever see a living, breathing human soul around these joints...
NO WAY!!
The owners are off making money somewhere...
They don't have time to be at home living in those monsters.

A friend made the astute observation that the people who get the most "living" out of these places
are the housekeepers and the gardeners
who park their little Hondas and Toyotas in the lane
during the day while the household members are away...

Another curious thing about them,
which you have also mentioned...
is that a lot of the owners build one and then move on to another...

A mechanic that we know... works on a fancy-pants car
for the owner of one of these monster houses...
Mentioned that his client has "started" three new houses so far this year,
but has ended up selling each of them part of the way through their construction,
because he has found a nicer lot,
or a trendier neighbourhood
or has decided that he would rather have a different design of house by a hotter architect....

It all boggles the mind....well... to be more correct... it boggles my little mind...

You could be right... They are aliens, or some other branch species of humanity.... I believe we might need to call in an anthropologist to answer that riddle....
