French Government To Sell Part Of Stake In Thomson Multimedia

PARIS -(Dow Jones)- The French government Thursday confirmed plans to sell part of its stake in French consumer electronics maker Thomson Multimedia (TMS).

The Finance Ministry said in a statement that the state will keep a blocking minority stake in the company. The government now holds 51.7% of the company, held via holding company Thomson SA.

Thomson Multimedia's CEO Thierry Breton said in an interview Thursday in daily newspaper La Tribune that the state's stake in the company won't go below 33.33%.

The company's strategic shareholders are Microsoft Corp. (MSFT), NEC Corp. (NIPNY) and Alcatel SA (ALA), each with a 6.8% stake, and Direct TV, which holds a 5.2% stake.

Today CC was very bullish.One analyst had a problem to
believe( he said WOW!) that revenue growth is increased to mid-35% and the bottom line will still growth twice faster.
This is despite components issue.

worth to look at major points of presentation

optics + internet products (outside Newbridge which contributed only one month) grew 47%
excluding internet optics grew about 70% including slower growth optical cable.
When compare apple to apple ( without cable) it was more 70%.
Of course not up to NT 150%, but much faster then Lucent or
Fujitsu.

I expect RSP 670( 50 gig IP/ATM) to make real headlines soon.....
