Watching earnings reports for the last couple of weeks would indicate that reporting better than expected earnings does have a negative effect on the stock price.

Could it be that investors no longer have faith in the analysts numbers and go completely by the whisper numbers? Hmm, no faith in the analysts - AMD started falling just about the time a few of them upgraded AMD, are people using analysts as contrary indicators now?
