LINK: NCTA: Digital Cable at 7.1 Million skyreport.com The National Cable Television Association, in a survey released Wednesday, said U.S. cable operators are on track to at least double their existing customer base for digital cable, Internet access and telephony before the end of the year. U.S. cable operators added a little more than 1.1 million new digital video customers during the second quarter, exceeding record first-quarter totals and bringing the nationwide digital customer base to 7.1 million. The industry is signing up digital video subscribers at a rate of about 365,000 a month, the NCTA survey said. The industry also added around 416,000 new high-speed Internet cable modem customers during the second quarter. That brings the number of cable modem customers in the United States to 2.27 million.
