Doug, you are confusing the WGC with Goldfields Mineral Services which is the organization challenged by GATA in Paris.

the WGC has been an outspoken critic of the BoE gold auctions, and as such is imo in the camp of the gold supporters.

actually the mission statement is pretty clear:

gold.org

this is the organization that was challenged to debate GATA in Paris:

gfms.co.uk

i don't doubt at this point that the information about Uruguay's gold is correct...it fits nicely with the similarly puzzling gold transfers from Kuwait and Jordan that preceded it.

interestingly, GATA contends that the Uruguay gold must be of dubious origin...as no official reserves of this size were known before this transfer to London took place.

draw your own conclusions about the owners of that gold...coming as it does from a nicely inconspicuous little South American country...

the real question is why is this being done? as in the case of Kuwait, it is simply extremely hard to believe that current lease rates would be enticing a 55 ton gold transfer....it simply makes no economic sense. the shipping costs alone are probably eating up the potential profit.

regards,

hb
