Always find good calls on this thread....and the calls are always backed up by the excellent people I have an opportunity to listen to everyday on local biz radio here in Northern Virginia, just outside Wash DC.

The radio is good listening most of the time. I get tired of the hype on CNBC....flip often to CNNfn, which is the same stuff but with less hype and more time seems to be allotted to specific speakers....it's not quite so rapid-fire as CNBC.

Been way too busy this week to trade stocks, but have limit orders in to catch some good stuff (I call them "falling steaks"....not falling knives).

Posted below are some of the calls I heard on the radio today while driving from place to place..these calls are from brokers and from TA experts who sell subscriptions to their newsletters....who don't get paid to hype....they get paid to attract new clients by making good trading calls, and that's why they do Q & A radio shows where listeners call in to ask about entry and exit points on specific stocks or to comment on the market as a whole.

The calls I remember from today are:

MSFT (two Paine Webber guys said they will be snapping that stock up at 65, 60, but they won't be surprised if it hits the 50's).

MOT....excellent pick, it's headed down to 30 and buy it.

NOK....will be a surprise to its shareholders who come home from work tonight and find out what happened to it.....this means some residual panic selling in NOK and many other stocks tomorrow. After that residual selling is over.....what a shopping spree there could be.....but be careful.....the carnage isn't over yet.

One more thought.....as the Paine Webber guys preach, "When a stock gives me a quick short-term gain, I say thank-you-very-much-for-the-money and sell it.

You've heard "profit often" on this thread before, right?

Happy trading.

In spite of my post of a few mins ago, reading DO's reminded me indeed that the absolutely top call was that one, indeed. I was cash (early by a few weeks) in my trading account, but made two mistakes, both because I didn't anticipate the magnitude of the upcoming correction: I kept my long term ones, stocks I felt were secure against a 10-15% correction, and I kept trying to get back in too soon.

Both ears open now, though, and thanks for the post today about the balance of this month and August...
