In response to your napster alternative request:

In spite of these showings of support for Napster, it's still not entirely clear that the injunction will have a significant impact against online media swapping. Scour.net, a web-based version of Napster that also distributes video files, reports that over 31,000 new users have registered since the Napster ruling came down. The popular open source alternative Gnutella is also reporting a ground swell of interest — so much so that Wego, the company hosting the site, has taken the pages temporarily offline while they make improvements to their infrastructure.

With or without these alternative sources, Mac users have a secret weapon in the form of an unofficial Napster client dubbed Rapster. Rapster allows access to Napster servers, but also tracks servers using open-source versions of Napster's protocol. At the time of this report, Rapster found more than 50 such servers (under such names as OpenNap, MyNapster, and TakeaNap), the busiest of which reported more than 3200 users.
