How long the battery runs ?

The claim is "up to 12 hours" without sound or backlight (which isn't needed if you're sitting near a light). If you're using the backlight on the lowest setting you'll probably get about four hours. This is, of course, running time. Turn the thing off and it lasts nearly forever as the only power drain is RAM keep-alive.

Hey, when you've got a beast you've got to feed it. Palms do much, much better on battery life but you're feeding a mouse, computer power-wise. They're different machines with different purposes. The Palm's meant to be a PIM and it's a great one. The Pocket PC-class machine is meant to be more powerful compute-wise and more general purpose. You pay for that power-wise, without a doubt.

I normally run backlight off and I have it set to turn off if not used in 3 minutes. WinCE is instant on (really, it is) and takes you right back where you were (even in the middle of an entry of some sort) so it's no big deal to hit the power switch. If I use the backlight I have it set to turn off the backlight after 30 seconds of no activity. I've been showing it off a lot to people at work (including using the backlight) and I've still got 2/3 to 3/4 battery when I get home.
