Rambus, Oki Electric sign patent license agreement

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., July 28 (Reuters) - Rambus Inc. (Nasdaq:RMBS - news), a developer of technology to speed the performance of memory chips, said Friday it signed a patent license agreement with Japan's Oki Electric Industry Co.

Financial terms of the deal were not released.

The agreement covers patents for aspects of high-speed memory implemented in synchronous dynamic random-access memory chips, or SDRAMs, and Double Data Rate (DDR) SDRAM memory and controllers, Rambus said.

The royalty rates for DDR SDRAM and the DDR controllers are greater than the compatible rates for RDRAM, or Rambus Dynamic Random Access Memory, Rambus said. The agreement also includes royalties for SDRAM and logic that controls SDRAM, as well as a license fee for the entire agreement.
