EARTH Announces Bilge Water System Breakthrough

Business Editors

MONTREAL--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 27, 2000--EARTH (Canada)
Corporation (CDNX:EAR.V) is pleased to announce the introduction of
the RPA(R) Bilge Water treatment system (BWS), a cutting-edge fully
automated application system that removes oil and grease from bilge
water discharged into seas and oceans.
Designed for ocean-going vessels, the RPA Bilge Water system can
reduce discharge content to below regulatory levels and is engineered
specifically to treat high flows. Using RPA technology, filters within
the system can be reused 100+ times and will require no disposal upon
return to shore.
This cutting edge solution is revolutionary because no other
system can clean to 5 PPM and be re-used using the same absorbent. The
BWS solution addresses the tightening regulations being enforced as
witnessed with a record US$18,000,000 fine to the world's largest
cruise liner for discharging oily bilge water from its ships.
According to US Coast guard estimates, 1.25 billion lbs of oil enters
the marine environment annually.
"This application represents a milestone," comments Mr. E. Akkawi
(President & CEO), "as this Canadian solution was designed all
in-house and fills a niche in our product line." He continues, "The
potential of this technology is very exciting, as the BWS solution
achieves a cleansing level not attainable by other technologies. It is
flexible in dealing with entire spectrum of bilge water, and
potentially less expensive then the competition."
The BWS is gaining international interest and has attracted
attention from Governmental Marine Agencies and ship builders and is
expected to be of particular interest to port authorities, Ship-liners
and Cruise-liners. This innovative technology can help keep our waters
clean and help boat owners avoid pollution fines associated with oily
bilge water discharge.
RPA(R) is manufactured by Environmental Applied Research
Technology House - EARTH (Canada) Corporation of Montreal
(CDNX:EAR - news)

EARTH's RPA patented technology is unique because:

-- No waste is created and none needs to be disposed of

-- It allows full recovery of sorbed oil, including emulsified
oils

-- Through centrifugation, it is the only reusable hydrocarbon
absorbent, making it economically and environmentally friendly
to use
