I only wish qcom had done the same earlier this year.

I think QCOM was smart not to do that. It might've provided temporary support, but I doubt it would have been longlasting, given the many fundamental challenges that have come to light.
Perhaps it is also important to remember our corporate history here: If they had bought back 1.5BB in stock at 130, it would have made them look foolish, considering that last summer they floated 1BB in treasury stock to the index funds at a price under a split-adjusted 40. That would've been a textbook case of sell low, buy high (and watch it go back down).
