RE: 've been wondering about Xeon production, with the tremendous growth in the Intel based server market. Has Intel been able to keep up with that, or has supply been constrained there also? Take the 5th, if needed, I understand.

Thanks again.

Tony

Partial 5th. As Jim asked, I saw the >15 million CuMine announcement, in the lobby of building OC2, at intel's Fab12 Ocotillo Facility. The buzz around here is that the previous versions of Xeon with the lesser cache were oversupplied, because customers were waiting for the larger on-die cache models.

Since CuMine was so constrained, I heard that intel put off high production of the larger cache Xeon to get the CuMine ramp up, and heavily discounted the smaller cache models to move them.

It seems that now that the CuMine crunch is passed, I BELIEVE the Fab has been, or is being, re-balanced to push out the higher level Xeons.

But it is difficult to tell exactly, from the little bit of info you hear from this person, and the little bit from that person. NOBODY tells (or knows?) the whole story. You kinda have to take things that you hear, and piece it together.

I've recently started seeing Xeon 700s at customer sites.
