Hey, let's not miss the real point about Oki. As Unclewest points out, it is another bowling pin, or drip, or whatever metaphor you want. Frankly, I am happier when a niche firm which is not on the "cutting edge" of DRAM development says that Rambus patents are necessary for the current and future production of their product lines. Just sweep up all those little guys and get them in line.

How many more DRAM players, big or small, will have to sign agreements before Scumbria and the boys can see the handwriting on the wall? Every one of these licensing agreements strengthens Rambus legal and negotiating hand with the remaining ones. I, for one, have no doubt that other licensing agreements will follow. It is absolutely in Rambus' best interests right now to get ink on paper and I think they will work very, very hard to do just that. They may use incentives or other forms of inticement. Who cares? They are building a legal fortress here which will pretty soon have more companies inside than outside. Than those outside, ranting and waving their swords, are going to wonder how that damn fortress got so big and strong. <g>

Oki is just fine with me. Carl can disparage them all he wants (and man he had that company resume out in a hurry!), but it is one more win for Rambus and you can't take that away from them.
