Mean, median and mode would help too... I don't have a clue. All I know is, if a customer orders 1,000/850's, they get them. If They order 1,000/933's, they get them. That's the bottom line.15 million last quarter from Chandler seems more than a tad high. What was the total Coppermines output last quarter and how many FABs does Intel have making Coppermines? Not really, a friend of mine works for a construction firm, and last year he worked on a project for Fab12 that expanded the cleanroom space at that facility by 1/3. I believe that the capacity for that Fab was > 5,000 wafer starts per week BEFORE the expansion. I hear that the Israel Fab is as large. Published reports are that intel has 5 Fabs making CuMine, but not all of them are COMPLETLY dedicated. The majority of seem to be coming from Fab12 with Q2 output of > 15 million, and Israel with reported Q2 output of 2/3 of that. Israel was a new Fab (18) that came up on 0.18u, so that may not be full ramp either. Notice how CuMine prices are now coming down? Expect it to accelerate. Also, with Coppermines being released at 1.13 GHz (Intel PR is unbelievable, no way should AMD let this happen)they are getting close to the speeds that Willy will be released at. Using current benchmarks...what are the chances of Coppermine outperforming Willy at the same clock speed...? I strongly suspect Intel will segemnt the Coppermine under the speed of Willy but the benchmarks could be embarrassing? No? Jim I don't have any clue about any of this. The "buzz" that I hear, is mostly manufacturing related, not design. The people I hang out with are Manufacturing Process related. Sorry. SemiconEng
