"IMO, the "big" money is not this stupid to buy this load of crap that Intel is pushing."

Apparently the BIG money really is buying the Intel PR. Intels stock is much closer to it's high than AMDs...
Intel PR has the BIG money believing that Intel will soon crush little 'ole AMD and Athlon is but a flash in the pan.
Of course, this creates opportunity...

chic,

I think AMD is doing the
right thing by waiting for a volume release. Intel released 1 Ghz on March 8th and it still can't be found in any reasonable quantity.

I agree completely. Introducing a higher speed grade when you can not ship it in volume only marginalizes the value of lower speed grades. So, why doesn't AMD introduce 1.1 in volume next Monday, then? Because they don't have to. Anyone who wants a 1 Ghz chip in August will still have to buy an Athlon, and AMD will not have to lower it's price. The release date of August 28 tells me that AMD thinks that this is when availablity of 1 Ghz PIII will start to arise.

Pravin.
