One of the main points that I'd like to overemphasize in this market is that this isn't a trend-following market (for very long spates anyway); and that makes it nearly impossible to trade for the myriad of momentum players who insist on following "confirmations" like yourself. In any event, trend-following or buying on a confirmation of strength has proven as ill-advised as trend-following reactive sale decisions, at least as applies to the Senior Averages (with individual stocks, most investors have relatively little choice on exiting strategies (for at parts of their portfolios), because they will understandably worry about basic capital after a prolonged decline. So far this year that has repeatedly seen people buying into strength and selling weakness. What a disaster that strategy has turned out this year. The opposite of momentum investing has worked very well this year: Buy weakness and sell strength.

I see some more choppy downside action during the first half of August. I doubt the NDX or COMP breaks to new lows here. At worst, I see a successful retest of the April lows. A strong dollar is good for the techs. A weak dollar is good for the cyclicals.

The second half of August should produce a nice rally as we head into Labor Day. I doubt Greenspan would be stupid enough to raise rates in August given the fact that so much public money is invested in equities. I doubt Greenspan wants a recession. If he raises rates again, he is asking for one in 2001.

As for your SNDK, their flash cards are extremely popular on the Wireless Platform: Palm IIIx, TRG Pro and the Windows CE Pocket PC Platform. I see a double from these levels in the fall.

trgpro.com

The TRG Pro has become the most popular Palm due to its CF Expansion slot.

I own the only Palm from 3 Com that allows you to put a pager or flash card in it. You got to unscrew the back cover to get it in though. How is that for easy accessibility?
