There have been large buys. You don't need volume, but volume follows when sensitivity to the upside is detected. When you see heavy volume and advancing price 80% of the action is market orders to sell. Buyers underneath at the bid keep raising their bids so heavy selling is absorbed with little price concession. When marginal demand exceeds total supply price translates.
