RE:"Tell me about it. I'm currently looking at a tax bill that will be higher than my yearly salary. I'm going to be feeling a lot of pain come April. It's really sad that when I took out $5K to pay off college debt I had to set aside another $5K for taxes. I'm trying to avoid the the situation where you go spend your gains only to find next year your tax bill is higher than the money you have left!"

I've felt your pain for many years. After you pay it all, you will feel like you have nothing left and realize to really get ahead you have to hit the big home run...
Don't feel bad though, the Dems know better how to spend your money...and now you qualify as "rich"!

Congratulations, welcome to the working world. Taxes should be secondary in investing, but certain strategies are worse than others.

I just wrote some $75 puts on AMD for $16 expiration date Jan 2001. If they expire worthless that will be $9 for me and $7 for the tax man since it is not in my IRA.
