Goutama,

Your numbers look reasonable. I think QOQ memory division sales increase will be about 15% (based on Q1 CC guaidance). This should help a lot.

WOW. Intel is dropping like a rock. The divergence between AMD and Intel today could be VERY significant. I think we are heading out of the woods.

Pravin.

Goutama, very good estimating, IMHO. I've also read that the part of the Communications Group AMD is selling is about 50% of the group as reported in the "Supplemental Data" each quarter.

The 1Q,2Q numbers for the entire Communications Group were 117M, 101M, respectively. Conservatively, you've got to figure that they will lose at least 60M, 65M in Q3 and Q4 from "half" this division.

This puts the gain in Q3 eps towards the high end of your 0.29 to 0.50 range.

Petz

Finally found an article with details on 'Legerity Inc' (formerly AMD's Communications division). It seems, their quarterly revenue is about $75MIllions - which is slightly more than the max revenue figure I used in my eps analysis in this post

Austin, Texas-Based Computer Company Spins Off Chip Division

[...]

The spinoff from Advanced Micro Devices Inc. has a firm customer base, $300 million in annual sales, a veteran staff of 250 workers and a portfolio of several hundred patents.

Now all it must do is recruit a new chief executive, fill about 60 job openings, find a new headquarters site in town and beef up its product portfolio. All those moves are part of a plan for a public stock offering within 18 months, company executives said.

[...]

"It's a good little division," said analyst Fred Zieber with Pathfinder Research of San Jose, Calif. He said, "It was an orphan within AMD," which has been preoccupied in recent years with its rivalry with Intel Corp. while trying to gain a foothold in the microprocessor business.

"A year from now they could be the hottest company in the world," Zieber said. "It's amazing what getting rid of the parent company can do for you."

Legerity is an independent company, but it still has ties to its former parent. AMD has agreed to manufacture, test, package and ship many of the new company's chips for the next five years. AMD retains a 10 percent ownership interest in the company.

Legerity also is leasing 35,000 square feet of space from AMD at a former Lockheed site in Southeast Austin. The company expects to find a new headquarters space by the end of the year.
