... is nothing more than a re-wording of the socialist credo: "From each according to his ability, to each according to his need." Yes, utopian and a sentiment that is the basis of the La Grange movement, Progressives, New Deal and Great Society. So I'm a Commie, FT, and I don't even know it?!! No reason to throw the baby out with the bathwater, now is there? This train of highly evil thought has created more monstrous acts than any other in history. Debatable. Perhaps you advocate "from each according to his ability, to each according to his ferocity." Or, perhaps, Social Darwinism? Imperialism? Fascism? Nationalism? Zionism? Expansionism? Sexism? Racism? Or, we can drop the 'ism' and go for the Whiteman's Burden, or the ministries of Coronado in the New World? Which monstrous acts would these be from such a utopian view that there should be compassion and recognition that some are more graced than others? Red-scare rhetoric is exactly why we couldn't interact in good faith with unionists in the 30's and couldn't apply effective remedies to social injustices in the 50's and 60's. I can name several "isms" that seem to be more "highly evil". Hitler? That was Fascism. Stalin? He wasn't a Marxist, IMO. That was a form of Totalitarianism. Castro? Maybe Castro started as a Marxist when he was hanging with Che. But he's certainly not one now.
