budget deficit in Texas??
The deficit would not appear until next year. It was the usual step of cutting taxes while increasing spending that led to it. The Comptroller is a Bush supporter and freaked when the projection was announced and made all the departments change their revenue estimates and expense estimates so the deficit disappeared on paper. The treasury is still drying up as fast as the grass.
