Never mention a self install to an ATT service tech. You'll hear a lot of swearing. If the self install is a network engineer, the tech won't make the call. You can know all about this stuff, but dealing with it first hand is a whole different thing. I swear it refutes the laws of physics or hides them so an analytical approach often fails.

I was getting instruction this morning on the new local node for mixed BB voice/data. A comm engineer showed me a box packed full with PC boards. He was trying to spread them out a bit so that they'd get the cool air from the conditioner. I asked him what they did. He said, "I don't know, I just know what to do when problems arise". Then I asked where the problems start and he said, "always at or near the user".
