You forget the difference between...

a specification you control, and have many experts in-house to query, especially about the vital stuff that was never written down (think IS-95)

and a specification that is committee produced; you have not participated in the SIG's - so you are nor privy to the stuff that wasn't written down; (ultimately, a specification you don't control); and standards experts are hard to find (either here or in Silicon VAlley)

Consider that IS-95 takes up an inch and a half of my bookshelf, and GSM two feet!

GSM is NOT just another TDMA system. If you and your colleagues think that, let me know where you work, because your outfit would be a great short possibility.
