FYI, this was the technology space that I thought might steal some of I2's thunder. Its in the discontinuous innovation phase now, I would say.

This has nothing to do with demand planning, I2 owns that. But moving logistics transactions around outside the firewall with some sort of integrity is breaking off it seems. The exchanges ariba,cmrc,i2 and mysap all OEM webmethods for this, so you can talk to another webmethods for free within a transaction if you sign up for the exchange. But if you want to write to a non-webmethods OEM server like some supplier somewhere then you have to buy the webmethods core technology, or somebody else's core technology. There are tons of EAI vendors out there but most don't have integrity outside the firewall so they don't count. They really shouldn't call themselves b2bi if they can't get outside - but you know the old Tom Siebel saying "promise them anything" - heh.
