If I may comment--if you want a gold play, why not ASA? It actually pays a decent dividend, sells at a discount to NAV (about 18% I think last time I looked), and owns gold, platinum, and DeBeers stocks that make money. I guess it is still politically incorrect as an investment.

Chris, I like both Newmont and Homestake. I think Homestake is more leveraged to the price of gold. Stillwater is definitely coming into my price range.

I'm not a big fan of Cohu, though it is cheap. I like SRAM and Alliance is a big player there. My favorite chip stock, when it is down in the mouth, is Analog Devices.

With pc sales in the toilet and prices down, MU has to be a favorite put candidate again. However, as long as analysts are willing to allow them to build uncosted inventory to any size without comment, it is hard to see when it breaks. But I want to be there when it does.

I also missed APCC this time. To be fair, it has done yeoman work for me on both the long stock and long put side in the past, so I can't count on it for all of my wealth. <g>
