re: "There are very simple dataflow algorithms in use which make the problem of forwarding data in a deep pipeline manageable. Basically, each renamed result register is given a tag, which is snooped by the rest of the pipe as a potential operand source."

Thank you for your patient, perceptive, and very thoughtful response...Really! Please do remember that I am an experimental fuzzicyst by background and that I are not an leckrical enginaneer or komputer jock. Many of the subtleties of your profession are outside of my experience. Also, since I am post 50 in age, I drive in the left hand lane on 4-lane 70 mph highways at a sizzling 40+ mph with my left hand turn signal eternally on; I have difficulty learning new concepts. If you continue your patience with me I promise to try to understand your field as best as I can. Please do not expect too much of me, I used to be a very fast learner but apparently this is no longer true.

Sincere Regards,

DARBES
