I still don't understand why so many people are euphoric and blatantly obsessive over their ability to obtain and copy free music without paying for it.

The alternative is going to much more unpalateable to the rest of us. Imagine if the following ideas are being tossed about :

1. A $1 or $2 tax on CDR and CD-RW
2. A 10c/MB tax on each mmc/CF flash cartridge.
3. A tax on internet bandwidth traffic, with the assumption that XX% of all internet traffic is audio/video files.

I think that in the end, just explicitly paying for the right to the music is going to be a lot less expensive for the rest of us.
