Chunghwa Telecom delays international listing
By Total Telecom staff

28 July 2000

Chunghwa Telecom, Taiwan's mobile phone monopoly, has said it will delay the sale of its shares to international investors until 2001.

"The sale will happen next year," said Wei Hwa-mei, a senior director in Chunghwa's finance department, in press reports. "It's better not to hurry."

For now Chunghwa will continue with the sale of 3% of its shares to institutional investors in Taiwan this year, and a further 18% to individual investors in September.

The operator had planned to sell around 12% of its shares to foreign investors.
