Dear Bullrider: Nope, they cant. the first thing one does is turn off the engine, and remove the air filter (at that point one is left holding a gooey mass--wondering) Pull the plugs, crank over the engine, expell the water, dry the plugs, put them in and an ounce or so of engine oil if available and they usually start up. Now, unless you are smart enough to carry a spare filter, there you are in the middle of Paradise with 20 miles of dusty road to travel and NO AIR FILTER. Ms. 4.0 says, "Thats not nice" JDN
