The Nikkei is still a follower, even recently. They have been in a down market since 1990.

My analysis indicates that for down days on the Nikkei worse than -.5%, there is only a slightly better than 50% chance that the S&P will be down. Even recently the US market hardly cares what happens on that market.

Only big market events or monetary events will be noticed.
